B1200 B0xxx · Body (B) Low severity
Climate Control Module Serial Data / Panel Fault
The climate control panel has lost communication or failed internally. Often a power or data-line issue rather than a dead panel.
Severity guidance: Low — usually no drivability impact, fix at the next service
Symptoms you will notice
- Climate display blank or unresponsive
- No response to button presses
- Blower runs on a default setting
Common causes
Ordered from most to least likely — start at the top.
- 1 Failed control panel
- 2 LIN or CAN data line fault
- 3 Power supply problem
- 4 Software fault
How to diagnose it
Cheapest and least invasive first — most of these codes are not a parts problem.
- ✓ Check the HVAC fuses and the panel connector first.
- ✓ Read for accompanying U-codes — a data-line fault shows up alongside.
- ✓ Inspect the LIN wire between the panel and the HVAC module.
- ✓ Try a panel reset or reconfiguration before replacement.
Repair options
- Repair the power or data line
- Replace the control panel
- Reflash if a software update applies
B1200 — frequently asked questions
Is the panel or the wiring at fault? +
Read the accompanying codes. A U-code alongside means check the data line first.
Does the A/C still work with a dead panel? +
Usually in a default mode — enough to demist, but not controllable.
