Lost Communication with Power Steering Control Module
The steering control module is not responding. Assist usually drops to a reduced default rather than disappearing entirely.

- ✓ Check the high-current supply and earth to the steering rack.
- ✓ Measure CAN at the steering connector.
- ✓ Read the module directly with the scan tool.
- ✓ Check coding status if the module was recently replaced.

- Replace and code the module

Almost never. Systems default to reduced or zero assist, which is heavy but controllable.
Why does it come back after restarting? +
A marginal supply or connector. Intermittent faults still need fixing before they become permanent.
