Carbon buildup on direct-injection engines
TSI, TFSI and FSI engines draw oil vapour past the PCV into the intake, building carbon on the intake valves. Rough idle, misfire and lean codes follow. Walnut blasting is the standard remedy; the PCV diaphragm is the root cause to check.
DSG dry-clutch mechatronic
The DQ200 seven-speed dry dual-clutch is sensitive to clutch wear and mechatronic faults. Read the clutch wear and oil status in the transmission module before advising a service; adaptation resets belong to a VAG-specific tool.
Timing chain tensioner on EA888
The EA888 generation engines use a chain that can stretch, especially with oil-service neglect. Cam-correlation codes and cold-start rattle are the warning signs; check correlation in live data before replacing parts.
ABS/ESP module faults
VAG ABS modules produce codes that persist after obvious causes are fixed. Check the pump ground and connector for corrosion, and confirm wheel-speed sensor signals in live data before replacing the module.
